The event is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated and will be used to send medical supplies to Ukraine. JW Pioneer Courthouse Square, Downtown (Sun Aug 6) Now in its 29th year, the event is held in proximity to August 15 in celebration of India's independence day. India Festival Past Event Like List Spearheaded by the India Cultural Association of Portland, this outdoor festival brings India's vibrant culture to Portland's living room with a flurry of music and dance performances, plus booths with fashion, art, and mouthwatering Indian cuisine. You've got all day to mosey up and down Hawthorne and peruse the wares from more than 200 local businesses. Attendees can peep upcoming collections by buzzy footwear, swimwear, bridal, and haute couture designers past designers have included Nike, Adidas, Project Runway winners Michael Costello and Gretchen Jones, and a slew of up-and-coming, eco-conscious creatives. This week-long festival celebrates the global sneaker community and Portland's booming footwear industry with workshops and themed festivities. Sneaker Week PDX Past Event Like List Portland's sneakerhead community likes to proclaim the city the "sneaker capital of the world," and with titans like Nike and Pensole Footwear Design Academy in town, the assertion holds up. LC Aladdin Theater, Brooklyn (Fri Aug 25) COMMUNITY The millennial weirdo behind "traveling freak show" Helltrap Nightmare will bring her lurid, unfiltered, technicolor schtick to Portland-prepare your rubber noses. If I'm being honest, the first words that come to mind when I think of Sarah are "clown woman," but I don't mean it as an insult, and I have several outfits to back me up. Sarah Sherman Remind Like List Sarah Sherman (aka Sarah Squirm), surreal comic, SNL featured player, and a favorite of the too-online, will drop by Portland again in anticipation of her new Netflix flick opposite Adam Sandler.
